Casas de Núñez: Primary Bedroom Remodel

In the fall of 2020, we bought a 100-year-old property in St. Petersburg, FL, Casas de Núñez, and have spent the last year renovating every corner of it. In the last couple of months, we put the finishing touches on our primary bedroom and we’re thrilled to share the final outcome of the space in this blog post.

BEFORE

This room was pretty rough when we bought the house - with dingy carpet, a poorly constructed closet addition, holes in the original flooring, and wasted space in the layout that needed re-working. For this room, we knocked out the closet addition and added a long, short window to sit above our bed. We moved the entrance to the bathroom and turned the space in front of the original bathroom doorway into a new walk-in closet. We also fixed, refinished, and stained the hardwood underneath the carpet, painted the walls, and added new doors + fixtures. We’re so proud of how it all came together! To see the remodel of the primary bathroom, you can find the reveal on this blog post.

Mood Board

For the style of this room, we pulled a lot of inspiration from the soft, pink Zia cement tile that we used in the adjoining bathroom and the warmth of the bed frame that we incorporated in collaboration with Industry West. Overall, we wanted to create a room that felt very calm, relaxed, and inspiring through soft pops of pinks, sage, and orange colors.

Here’s a list of sources for the items that we used in the design of the space:
