Meet our New Florida-Inspired Fonts

A new collection of fonts has arrived in the Chez Núñez Shop and we’re thrilled about the ways they capture the beautiful, strange spirit of the place we call home - Florida. Meet the Florida Font Collection!

We had so much fun designing this set of typefaces; we wanted to share a little more about the inspiration that went into each of our new Florida Fonts. The stories and references behind them continue to make us smile - scroll on to read why.

Beach Drive is a display typeface inspired by the architectural lines of the Art Deco buildings that sit along the coast of Miami Beach, FL. Anna was motivated to create this font after finding a piece in a local antique store with a word printed in a similar style. This ceramic piece inspired the first letters that she drew for this font - A, C, E, and R - and the rest of the lettering unfolded from there.

Holiday Park is a graceful italic typeface inspired by the grand pink hotels of Tampa Bay, FL, and tropical cocktails by the pool. It feels like something we might find on a small country club matchbook or a resort lunch menu. This font is our first take on a script, and we're in love with each letter's soft, romantic movements.

The idea for Ybor City was the first of this collection that came to us and prompted a collection of Florida-inspired fonts. Anna + Jesús were walking through Ybor on a weekend afternoon and saw a hand-painted sign in a window with letters much like these. The result is a display typeface influenced by the historic brick buildings of Cuban cigar factories in Tampa, FL.

With all the beauty that Florida offers, there comes a little bit of crazy as well. We didn't feel like this collection of fonts would be complete without paying proper respects to the iconic, unpredictable Florida Man. This font is the first to be lettered by Jesús, and we love the humor that he infused into these letters and characters. What we landed on is a display typeface quite literally inspired by our next-door neighbor who never wears a shirt and burns trash in his backyard… Dammit, Chad.
